About Us

The main role of the MNUC Health services department is to promote preventive, curative and promotional healthy services including screening, early intervention and health education, first aid services and emergency services, referral and follow up care. The department plays an important role in the provision of top class health care.

Health services Department Functions

The clinic opens from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. In case of emergencies outside the working hours, the nurse is contacted by officers on duty to deal with the situation.

Some outpatient health services are providing by the University College Health Unit. However, specialised treatments are not provided by the University College health unit and expenses incurred in such cases shall be catered for by parents/guardians.

Note: Students are encouraged to be insured with the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and be in possession of their or the contributors NHIF number, National Identification (ID) Number and a copy of their NHIF card. NHIF pays for medical bill as per NHIF regulations.

In case a student falls sick and requires admission in a hospital, he/she will be admitted at the Gatundu Level Four Referral Hospital. Parents/guardians are informed immediately and are expected to pay the hospital bills of all inpatient/hospital admissions. The parents/guardians are allowed to transfer the student to a hospital of their choice after which they inform the Head, University Health Unit and the Head, Students Affairs.
